Since 2015 my customized business Sneakers by Sophie has worked with clients to design a pair of sneakers that emulates their personas. With the unification of patterns, color theory, layout, and conceptual objects, I have been able to connect with my clients and bring each of their visions to life to give them “happy feet”. My designs range from celebrating a college commitment, promoting a business, or even just capturing a client’s passion!

CASE STUDY: Philanthropic DREAMs

THE ASK

During the summer of 2016, I volunteered with Dominican Republic Education and Mentoring (DREAM) in the Dominican Republic and returned feeling heavily rewarded and creatively inspired. As a result of my experience I continue to donate a portion of the proceeds of every shoe I sell to DREAM. I was honored to be asked to design two pairs of DREAM themed sneakers, one of which would be bestowed to Pulitzer Prize author and Dominican Republic native, Junot Diaz, and the other to be auctioned off as part of the fundraiser.

THE CONCEPT

As part of my creative process, I honed in on the concept of dreaming, elements of nature, and how I felt during my time volunteering in the Dominican Republic for inspiration. I channeled the strong sense of comfort and community I found during my experience while incorporating vivid colors to embody the vibrance and energy of Dominican culture.
